Remember earlier how i said PUMA reminded me of Swift boat veterans for truth, the Republican funded GOP attack machine that, according to some, sealed the fate of John Kerry during his 2004 run?

Well, it looks like I was right. And not because of Will Bowers; let’s explore. By means of Pandagon:

The very backbone of PUMA is supposedly the idea that they will fight for Hillary to become the Democratic nominee, YET, this PAC form was filled out 4 days before Hillary “suspended” as in, conceded, her campaign. That doesn’t sound like someone who REALLY cares about Hillary Clinton’s campaign much. For months Hillary had been taking the heat from the sexist media. Why wasn’t PUMA- the angry feminist “movement”- created sooner if they were founded on some principle to help Hillary?

Also, the founder Darragh C. Murphy, an outspoken Clinton supporter on FOX news, doesn’t seem to think that it is too important to tell her followers that she felt sooo compelled to help John McCain in 2000 that she donated $500 to his campaign, only that she NOW supports John McCain because of Hillary’s loss. $500 from a “Homemaker” is pretty hefty dinero, don’t you think?

PUMA may be filled with women who believe in Hillary Clinton NOW, but it’s suffice to say that PUMA was started by the same ol’ GOP attack dogs who are dead set on winning ANOTHER election and continuing the four years of Bush policy that have led this nation into hellhole. Makes sense. The more “PUMA” messages and sites there are among the blogosphere the more the right gets to paint their candidate as a moderate, maverick, hero, and patriot.

These sites are created under the FALSE claim of being PRO-HILLARY, PRO-PUMA, yet, they start AFTER Hillary’s defeat and in the wake of much tension amongst women voters. They quickly turn into ANTI-OBAMA websites, defaming his character and HIS message… some going so far as to accuse him of murder. Yet, neither one of these sites can back up their “racist” claims with a quote. Nor can they usually back up their sexism claims with real action. Only a “claws come out” truncated quote, and a “middle finger” video that is simply the Senator scratching his face.

They blame the media’s sexism on Obama.

If you ask these “PUMA” voters to explain the differences in issues between John McCain and Hillary Clinton. most of these Republicans cloaked as Democrats shake off your questions with nothing more than staggering claims of John McCain’s stronger exhibition of character and judgment. to elude that character trumps real issues of American’s is a farce statement, one no REAL Democrat would support it.

Remember how the GOP believed that Bush was the “kind of guy you could just have a beer with?” Yeah- look where that got us. And who look at who is towing THAT party line!

PUMA, another shoe drops in the unveiling of this swiftboat organization attempting to maximize their voting base by stealing the minds of regularly tough, well-rounded women.

  1. Lu4PUMA Says:

This contribution was made during the 2000 primary when McCain ran against George W. Bush who is another extremist, empty suite politician. Look what happened. Now you want more on the Left? NoBama

  2. christinacedeno Says:

George Bush was NEVER an empty suit politician and your queen Bee is a republican GOP slime ball! And you are too deep in the trees to see the forrest!

  3. Lu4PUMA Says:

Making a contribution to a Republican does not make you a Republican. How about a voter registration?

Now we know who posted her address on the internet. And you are calling people names?

Obviously, you are an Obamabot, not a HOUND. This is just one more reason to say:

    PUMA

  4. Wendy ~ Dem4life Says:

I’ve thought this along about these people. I could never understand why so many so-called Hillary sites turned into McCain sites over night.
And then there was that fable about Senator Obama sending out 400 paid bloggers (with nothing to back it up) yet someone found a link to the McCain website where he was sending out bloggers. (I’ll find the link)

Obviously these are just several more reasons to say:

    PUMA = REPUBLICAN

  5. christinacedeno Says:

Thank you Wendy for your thoughtful comment! Find that link and I promise to post it up and blog about it tomorrow, bright and early! This site just launched this afternoon and already it has over 600 hits! Needless to say- people are starved for a REAL pro-democrat site!

  6. Wendy ~ Dem4life Says:

Your welcome, I will be posting your site on my group tomorrow I have almost 1000 members and they are sure to re-post as they are also very tired of these people.

    Here’s the link
    http://www.johnmccain.com/ActionCenter/BlogInteract/BlogInteract.aspx

Thank you for providing the site and yes we need a REAL pro-Democrat site.

  7. Christina Says:

Wendy- Daily KOS! aha like they are going to “spread” the word about John McCain!

  8. MOYO, a HillaryHead Says:

I voted in the Virginia Republican Primary in 2000, for John McCain, would have voted for him if he was the candidate. Voted for Ross Perot in 1992. These votes indicate my disgust with the status quo since 1992, my wish for change. Change would have been a woman in the White House, an idependent minded woman, her own woman, as John McCain was and is, his own man. Not Bill, Hillary, not Barack, Hillary.

Hillary did not chant change she is prepared to make change.

Republicans do not really have to do anything; the Democrats are doing it for them. Barack cannot win in the general; there is too much political firepower and too much of his own history, to sway enough uncommitted, independent, haven’t thought about it yet, voters in States with the electoral clout.

Thanks for listening and thanks for your participation as a citizen

  9. Wendy ~ Dem4life Says:

    Christina thats WONDERFUL news!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was thinking about The KOS while I’ve been out spread a bit of news this morning :)

  10. Think About It Says:

Wishful thinking! I have been following PUMA since it’s inception and it is not a GOP creation. I have not joined, I am still on the fence.

Let’s not forget John McCain has been a crossover choice for Dems, I could care less if one of the founders donated to him.

Show me some evidence she donated to Bush, then I’ll start questioning her intentions.

Every poll of polls out there shows 15% undecided votes… exactly WHO DO YOU THINK THESE PEOPLE ARE? They are ex-HRC voters, PUMA, etc.

If PUMA was made up of republicans and the ex-HRC voters have all magically towed the line, why is Obama not ahead by 20 pts?! Why is he in a statistical tie with the margin of error against McCain when GWB’s approval ratings are in the toilet and 80% of America thinks we’re on the wrong track?

He’s not because PUMA is real. The more people try to ignore or dismiss it, the more it will grow.

  11. Hillary or Bust Says:

First of all, there are a variety of organizations out there using the acronym PUMA. PUMA PAC is not the main PUMA organization that is led by Will Bowers, who appears regularly on the news.

That said, I don’t care if someone donated to McCain almost 10 years ago. That does not mean they are a Republican operative in disguise. McCain was and has always been a moderate and perhaps this person always liked him. McCain was considered to be John Kerry’s running mate in 04 if you recall. Not all Americans vote along strict party lines all the time.

Furthermore, your criticism that the PAC was set up four days before Hillary suspended her campaign is pointless. PUMAs started organizing after the DNC rules committee meeting on May 31. It was at that time that Florida and Michigan voters were disenfranchised. That was the reason for organizing.

So if you really think you are “exposing” PUMA here, think again. You’ll have to try harder than this to find a smoking gun.

  12. Jack Says:

Supporting McCain is supporting the agenda of the last 8 years.
    No excuses, no exceptions.

Me I support Hillary Clinton, and as such I am voting for Obama.

If you form a pac you are required to file public forms.
You are required to list the address of that pac.
This person has a history of supporting the republican agenda and NO history of supporting Hillary Clinton. PUMA is nothing more then a subterfuge trying to lure Clinton supporters to McCain and everything Clinton opposes.

  13. Wendy ~ Dem4life Says:

Hillary or Bust I hate to tell you this but PUMA has been BUSTED

  14. Rhymes With Right Says:

    Hmmmm…

Thanks for pointing out that former Republicans are not welcome in the Democrat Party.

Or if they do join, they are not permitted to speak or challenge the party orthodoxy of the moment.

  15. Christina Says:

Oh, no- Republicans are welcome. PUMAs are welcome as well. Everyone is WELCOME. It is just good to know who you are dealing with. And I am ANTI-PUMA

  16. Christina Says:

    Good job JACK!

  17. Christina Says:

Think About It- I hate to be the bearer of bad news- but you have played right into the GOP hands.
Swiftboat Verterans For Truth wasn’t a Democratic coalition either… but they sure seemed to be at first.

  18. Past PUMA Says:

Why would ANYONE give THAT much money to John McCain? I was supporting him for awhile, I never donated a DIME.

  19. Jack's Raging Bile Duct Says:

I thank you for your service in exposing the fraud and hijinks of PUMA and its “associates.” Anyone who voted for McCain and donated $500 to his campaign cannot claim to be a faithful Democrat as Mrs. Murphy has.

As the truth continues to come out, people will see PUMA for its disgusting nature — that of the same ilk who swiftboated Sen. Kerry’s military record in 2004.

  20. Bad Says:

“It was at that time that Florida and Michigan voters were disenfranchised.”

Actually, no: they were disenfranchised many many months ago, with the support of Hillary and the votes of many of the people who later decided that these states should be allowed to skip ahead of all others who waited.

It was only later that a compromise was put in place that would allow those states to have some votes. But the original agreement, which Hillary never disputed at the time, was that they wouldn’t have any.

  21. O'blah blah Says:

Christina you’re such an ignorant ass. You are showing yourself for the imbecile you truly are. Go take care of your kid and leave politics to the grown ups.

  22. Christina Says:

I am sorry that you feel the need to spew such vitriol simply because I am against PUMA o’blah blah.
Remove the tissue from your ears.

  23. JayM Says:

My FEC search for Darrah Murphy, ZIP 01741, found contributions to Senator Clinton in 2008.

  24. Jay Says:

Typo correction: First name is spelled Darragh.

    Here are the search results:

  25. Mark B Says:

John McCain VOTED TO IMPEACH BILL CLINTON.

Let me repeat, John McCain voted to impeach Bill Clinton.

The people behind the Hillary supporters to McCain are nothing less than swift boat republicans. Hillary and Obama share about 95% of their opinions. McCain agrees 95% of the time with G W Bush. If you vote for McCain I hope it is your children who go to die in Iran.

  26. bmw60 Says:

We are the voters and the democratic party is imploding..

    The Voice of the Voters
Use it to help people understand who we are and why we are organizing. We are the voice of VOTERS, not of special interest groups, not of corporations, not of politicians. We are motivated by the factional internecine fighting and the destructive policies carried out by our inept party leadership. It is the divisive disdain for VOTERS, practiced by the leadership and egged on by the media and some politicians, that has brought the Democratic Party to the brink of ANOTHER GENERAL ELECTION LOSS and the irrelevancy of the Democratic Party altogether.
Our aim is to be the AARP of Democrats. EVERY SINGLE Democrat in America should be a member of Puma PAC. Our mission is to make sure that EVERY VOTE IS COUNTED EVERY TIME, that every good Democratic candidate gets FAIR TREATMENT by the Party, and that EVERY DEMOCRATIC VOTER matters to the Party. We are the voters. We run the party, the party does not run us. This is the United States, Howard Dean and Donna Brazile — not Cuba or North Korea, where the Party rules with an iron fist and voters fall in line. If you own a copy of the Constitution, time to drag it out of the closet where it’s been gathering dust along with your college thesis and other long-forgotten history books.
In this country, political parties are organized to represent and advocate for the values and needs of VOTERS. Somewhere along the line, you and every shallowly ambitious politician like you, forgot this. You seem to believe that our job as voters is to PROMOTE YOU and your chosen candidate to positions of immense power and fame.
We’ll come around? We’ll fall in line? We’ll rally behind YOU and YOUR CANDIDATE? You have got to be kidding, right? How about this? YOU will come around! YOU will fall in line! YOU will rally behind US — our values, our principles, and our REAL needs. You seem to have forgotten that you lead to serve. You need to remember this. You and your candidate believe that you can PANDER to LEAD; that you simply factionalize, lie to, and pander to the voters in order to “win” an election.
You are allowed to lead the party only as long as the voters want you to; only as long as we believe your leadership serves our interests, our values, our principles, and our priorities. You have failed in every capacity of leadership for which we elected and supported you. You have FAILED to keep our coalition party united. You have FAILED the democratic voters in Florida and Michigan and in caucus states where they were bullied and intimidated and disenfrachised. You have FAILED to protect and support an astoundingly competent and distinguished Democratic candidate. You have FAILED to honor the values and principles of TENS OF MILLIONS of Americans by NOT ONCE taking a stand against the sexist onslaught designed to ridicule every American woman and to undermine and handicap Senator Clinton’s candidacy.
Look around today Howard and Donna. Check out the so-called liberal media and so-called liberal blogs. Read what they are writing about us. Read how they characterize us with the ugliest, abusive, and most vile accusations and ridicule. Even today, bullying, thuggish Democrats are attacking other Democrats simply for standing up for their right to vote and to protest. This is the United States, Howard and Donna. POLITICAL DISSENT IS ONE OF OUR GREATEST AND MOST PROFOUND RIGHTS. Even today you will not stand up and support this, our most precious of rights.
Every day, even today, you CONTINUE TO FAIL.

  27. bmw60 Says:

PUMA…. Party Unity My Ass… so it goes folks… democrats attacking other democrats simply for standing up for their right to vote and to protest. The is the United States and it is one of our most Profound Rights…

By the way, You Obama supporters were you the one’s who cheered when Obama gave HIllary the finger (while whining) the day after the PA debate?

  28. Christina Says:

He didn’t give Senator Clinton the finger.
    He was scratching his face.

No BMW, “we” are Democrats and WE are not imploding- PUMA, aided by the RNC, is feeding you that bitter pill.
We are not attacking PUMA, we are EXPOSING PUMA. And we have substantial proof on our side.

  29. Jack's Raging Bile Duct Says:

“Christina you’re such an ignorant ass. You are showing yourself for the imbecile you truly are. Go take care of your kid and leave politics to the grown ups.”

Now that they’re faced with the slightest component of truth and scrutiny, PUMA folks begin to show their true nature — and it’s not a pretty sight.

  30. bmw60 Says:

Christina… scratching his face with his middle finger while talking about Hillary… and believe me the crowd got it!

    Open your eyes girl…

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n31VwNbTIVI

  31. Christina Says:

what are you talking about BMW? the people are cheering because Obama says “clinton looked in her element” as in “she is used to dirty politics” as in” clinton is running an attack campaign.” as in” she is comfortable with attacking me.” and everyone who watched the debate KNOWS that this is correct.

You are seeing attacks where there is CLEARLY none.

  32. bmw60 Says:

yes….. you didn’t look and see… thought You wouldn’t… oh my oh my… I suppose it’s okay to listen to hatred spewed for 20 years, say you never heard it, then say you did, then say you couldn’t disown him no sooner than you would your grandmother, then for political expediency disown him and renouce his membership in the Anti-white Black Theology church… He is a liar… and while whining about Hillary the next day he gives her the finger and does exactly the same thing he accused Hillary of… soooooo TYPICAL POLITICIAN … NOT AGENT OF CHANGE!

  33. grlpatriot Says:

I never donated to McCain or any other Republican and never would. I’ve already responded to Amanda, but I have tell you that your assertions about PUMA and Murphy are inaccurate. PUMA is not a secret GOP movement and we are not Republicans. Now, are Republicans taking advantage of the situation — they’d be stupid not to.

Now with that said, most PUMAs are life long reasonable Democrats. You are assuming Murphy is a GOP op for McCain based on a donation she made during the 2000 primary. She also admitted that she voted for McCain in the primary too. She isn’t hiding anything — she’s a Democratic activist. Think about it, if she was a McCain supporter, then why didn’t she donate to him this time? Why are all of her political donations to Hillary? It doesn’t make any sense. It isn’t a vast conspiracy. It’s like saying that all the Democrats that Kos got to vote for and support Republicans to cause mischief during the primaries are now Republicans too. Does this mean that Kos is a Republican for starting it?

Now, this post is your opinion and this is your blog, so you have every right to express it. But facts are facts, and you don’t have all of them. You have a donation and nothing more. I took the time to research this further and correspond with Murphy. See PUMA Pac Founder, Murphy, “NOT a Republican” posted on MyDD.

  34. Christina Says:

    grlpatriot-

Please. Giving hundreds of dollars to a republican, gunning for him this year, giving NOTHING to the democratic candidate while using “I didn’t want bush to get the election” as an excuse is not only laughable but one hell of a bad excuse.

YOUR assertions are inaccurate because YOU are a PUMA. You don’t want to believe that it could possibly be true.

But it is true! And it gets more and more true each day.

You can TRY and defend the actions of the PUMA founder. But the proof is in the donation, the URLS the registering of names BEFORE Clinton was out of the race, some even in February, and everything else that we have uncovered.

You want to defend the RNC? Wow. You don’t think its a little sleazy to play off the emotions of women?
    Great.

  35. grlpatriot Says:

Christina, PUMA didn’t just happen overnight. It is a direct result of a ground swell of disbelief and disgust at what we were seeing happen in the media, the blogosphere, and on the ground. Our outrage has been building as early as last fall during the debates. If the Democratic Party will not uphold democratic principles, then who will? If the voters do not hold the party accountable, then who will? This is about democracy.

  36. Wendy ~ Dem4life Says:

I beg to differ grlpatriot MANY Pumas are Republicans and MANY others love to say how they are Independents. Most of the members have claimed to have ripped up their voters reg. cards and are no longer Democrats. One of the main people in your pack says over and over how she isn’t a Democrat and PROUD of it.
And it quite clear that your pack has no intention of upholding the democratic principles, you have done nothing but try to rip our party to pieces.
This has NOTHING to do with democracy it has EVERYTHING to do with the person whom won the nomination. I wonder if this so-called pac would have been formed if John Edwards would have gotten the nom?

  37. Trollmaster Says:

For those of you that whine that Hillary lost unfairly I have one simple question:

How come she agreed to the election rules, and only challenged them when she was losing?

You must admit if she really cared about the votes of MI and FL she would have challenged the rules way back then not at the 11th hour of the primary.

  38. Furious Vegas Says:

I can’t believe nobody has brought this up. HILLARY IS SUPPORTING OBAMA, and trying to tell ALL HER SUPPORTERS that if they really support her, they will support OBAMA as the next President of the United States.

For the record, b/c I am new here, I must say, if PUMAS founder donated anything to McCain in this lifetime, I would call that a SMOKING GUN. The whole formation of the organization when Clinton was conceding is WAY TOO SUSPICIOUS too.

Listen to Mrs. Clinton, if you really do support her, PUMA.

  39. Hillary PUMAs - Handmaidens of John McCain, or Weaponized Disappointment? Says:

[...] at most that explains the launch of the PUMA movement, and only some of its members. “Conflucian” riverdaughter has a long Democratic [...]

  40. Sally Says:

At least PUMA is- bipartisan. The DNC was so horrific and controlling - overiding the WILL of the people, we want NOTHING to do with them! Dean, Pelosi and all other superdelegates (huge, stunning list), who voted for Obama directly AGAINST the wishes of their constituents - You can’t do that and expect support. Ain’t gonna happen. Obama will lose. Even if a small portion of the 18 million people who voted for Hillary protest by voting for McCain … Dems will lose. There are so many of us, it’s staggering. Obama is to unqualified, radical, and untested.

  41. Is this Swiftboating of Obama Says:

This PUMA might be a GOP-type front group that is hoping to snare confused Democrats and turn them into voting for McCain by making it seem that diehard Hillary supporters think it best to vote for McCain. This absolutely does not make sense and is counterintuitive.

Here is some info. about the well-organized cyber connections in the Republican party and their ability to manipulate data. Some of the organizations like GovTech and Smartech create multiple websites for GOP organizations. Maybe PUMA is part of the electronic Swiftboating of Obama in 2008 in the blogasphere and on You-Tube.

First of all - what do the PUMA folks want? Do they really think that McCain will deliver something better for them then the last 8 years where our freedoms have been eroded under the guise of national security? And, brought us into an expensive war in Iraq that we all know is really about the oil.

  42. Is this Swiftboating of Obama Says:

A Republican cyber expert, Stephen Spoonamore, has gone on the record that he believes vote flipping software has been used in all elections since 2000. Remember the -16,000 votes in Volusia County, Florida for Gore in 2000? Spoonamore explains that that glitch in Volusia County revealed the fact that there are MINUS FIELDS in ELECTRONIC VOTING MACHINE MEMORY CARDS (both DREs & scanning machines). He said there is absolutely no reason for this. A memory card should only have 0 to 10,000 places for votes. The only reason for a negative field is to create a field that would start off one candidate or another minus a certain amount of votes. The -16,000 for Gore in Volusia County in 2000 was a BIG RED FLAG. Spoonamore claims the hanging chads were a diversion. The real stealing of the 2000 election took place in the new electronic voting machines in some of the Florida counties.

Anyway, this PUMA organization is also a diversion from focusing on making sure 2008 is not stolen in the voting booth and in Cyber Space. Please see all the videos listed in this comment. YOU WILL BE AMAZED. Please pass the information on to everyone you know and the media before 2008 is stolen again like in 2000 and 2004.

  43. Polly_Tics Says:

The idea that anyone in PUMA is or was a Democrat is absurd in theory if not reality. Clearly, McCain and Clinton view policies for our nation in vastly different terms, thus why would you change your vote?

I have spoken with PUMA folk for months now and have found their disrespect for anyone other than their own as reason enough to realize they do not believe in debate. No, they are driven by a hate that I only saw when the right attacked Bill Clinton back in the days…funny thing, eh?

  44. Tom Says:

I am amused at all the nonsense that PUMA and Anti-PUMA people have generated. WE are all fools to think that this cult of personality around Hillary is the issue. The real issue is we have become a nation of sheep and all of us can only exist in a herd. Look at yourselves, you know it’s true. Go ahead, get excited, watch some more media, and let the future dissolve any trace of common sense.

  45. Crazy About Hillary Says:

PUMA people are disgraceful when coming out on Larry King and trying to give some logical explanations as to why they want to vote for McSame. They are irrational since in the first place by trying to elect McSame they wish to keep 2Million+ Iraqis refugees forever out of THEIR OWN OCUPPIED HOMELAND! Did I say Irrational? They might be either crazies or criminals or both.

  46. myrtlebeachwebdesign Says:

Incidentally, I’m still waiting to hear of the horrible things the Swift Boaters did.

All I ever saw on their ads were clips of John Kerry saying things.

Is that considered bad now, to quote people?
